Now that Mike D'Antoni is in the Big Apple, the big question for the 2008-09 Phoenix Suns is, Are these guys still going to run and gun? The :07 Seconds or Less Suns featured a blitzing offensive attack for 48 minutes orchestrated by Steve Nash pushing the rock, Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw filling the wings and Raja Bell and Leandro Barbosa stalking the perimeter. Now that a new coach will be at the helm and Shaquille O'Neal is in the middle, what style of play will the cacti employ?
If the Suns downgrade to a slower pace, look for Phoenix to grab either a versatile defender to fill the role that Shawn Marion used to play or a deliberate point guard who can run a halfcourt offense and give Nash some rest here and there. If they're still pushing the pedal to the metal, they're in luck, because this year's Draft is deep with athletic swingmen.
"Phoenix Suns: Chase Budinger, 6-7, 203, SF/SG, Arizona. Budinger has exceptional jumping ability and a sweet shooting touch. He's still at his best moving in one direction and isn't effective breaking down defenders, but Rip Hamilton has made himself a star by playing that way. Budinger managed not to be beaten down by difficult circumstances at Arizona."
