Sixers guard Tyrone Hill, one of our NBA.commentators for NBA Playoffs 2001, answered questions from fans before Game 1 against the Raptors. The Sixers have an 0-1 deficit in the Eastern Conference Semifinal series.
Hill |
I have been a huge 76ers fan since the days of Dr J and Moses. My
question is, how did you stay composed enough to hit those HUGE free throws
in the end of Game 3?
Mike
Boston
Hill: I think it's experience and just having the confidence at the free throw
line to know that you're going to make two.
What do the players say to each other when you're hugging the opposing
team after a game?
MJ
El Dorado, Ark.
Hill: We say things like, "good game" or "we really kicked your butt tonight!" --
stuff like that. We also talk about where we're going to go or what we're
going to do after the game.
I'm a huge fan of yours, and your team. If/when the Sixers
win a championship what will be the 1st thing you do?
Yak
Pittston, Pa.
Hill: I'm going to DISNEY WORLD!
What do you think has changed over the years of your playing in the NBA
with the new players coming in? What kind of thrill do you get when you
go out and here your name announced and hear 20,000 fans cheering for
you? Do you get a close relationship to your teammates throughout the
season?
Greg
Philadelphia
Hill: A lot has changed over the years. The league keeps getting younger and
younger. It's not like it used to be with the Magic Johnsons, Larry Birds
and Julius Ervings. It's more one-on-one instead of a team game now. It
still feels great to walk onto the floor. We have a very close group of guys
during the season and even in the off-season.
In all your years playing with the 76ers, what was your best moment
during a game and why?
Will
Brookhaven, Pa.
Hill: It would have to be last season's double-overtime win over the Boston
Celtics. Nothing was going right, and then Aaron McKie hit a 3-pointer for
the win!
It seems that your team plays high speed basketball, with many fast
breaks because of the quick defensive hands of Iverson and Snow, and the
blocking ability of Mutombo. How important is it for your bench players
to play great 76ers basketball to be successful in the playoffs?
Jesse
Phoenixville, Pa.
Hill: Our bench is very important. For me, it's a team game. From 1-12, everyone
has to be involved, whether you're playing or on the bench. You need the
support and you need to know your role.
